w is for wood stove.
i think at least once a day there is some flurrry of activity at the play stove. stirring, whisking, boiling, baking... on today's menu: tea, carrrots, mushroom and seashells...

after a summer of providing our yard and flower vases with beautiful golden blooms, our sunflowers are moving on and are now providing the neighborhood wildlife with food for their bellies. The little yellow finches go wild in the morning and afternoon fortifying themselves with the seeds. now, sudddenly they have a little competition from this squirrel. i've caught him munching out there two days in a row. he completely chews off a flower head, scurries over to set himseslf up on our chair and then the feasting begins... it is nice to see this guy (as long as he stays away from my bulbs!) because it is really a sign of the seasons changing—that we can observe right outside our window... nature... bulking up for colder months to come, and hopefully spreading some of those hardy seeds to secret places which will surprise us in the spring!
w is for windchimes.
just a great sound coming in through the open windows today...
