w is for watering.
unless there's been rain overnight, this is the start to my summer mornings — out the back door, shoes optional, to water the garden. above is a photo of one of our brandywines... we're still waiting for the first one to ripen. anyday...
w is for wrapping.
for a brief period this afternoon our backyard felt like a mini-summer camp. margaret and i found ourselves with a blanket spread out on the grass, a pile of yarn (purchased from a thrift store on a whim several months ago), and a nice selection of twigs, exploring a classic child's craft... it took a few rounds of over/under, over/under before margaret picked it up and was happily off creating away... i made one too and actually found it pretty meditative, all that repetitive wrapping, like a gentler knitting or something... happiness all around! (and around, and around, and around....)
