planning has begun for another road trip into the woods. for this morning's research we had maps, a pile of old outdoor/travel magazine articles, good music and a bit of coffee all around the living room. we're looking up and narrowing in on a few nature-submerged possibilities for another summer camping adventure. the planning part is always so exciting — dreaming of tall, green forest canopies above and rustling leaves and snapping twigs underfoot, a space in which nature surrounds you and it feels just right to stay and pitch a tent for while... hopefully we'll choose a destination and it will all come together.
(cued up for our listening pleasure this a.m.)
and while the living room looked like a temporary base-camp, the kitchen was full of activity too... the plan was to make a few sauces, using some summer produce, to put away in the freezer for a later date... first i tried out a new tomato sauce recipe, using a few tomatoes from the garden mixed with a few from a farmers market. however, all this red, basil-y goodness isn't going to see the inside of the freezer... change of plans... we'll be having that for dinner tonight with some eggplant- so much for cooking ahead. the pesto sauce did make it to the freezer though... a summer souvenir saved for another day...
oh, the happy business of a sunday morning and afternoon here. now to go tell my sleeping bag not to get too comfy up there in the attic, it's looking like he'll be back out again soon.
