1995. a dozen years ago, i set out with a dozen or so eggs, an issue of martha stewart living, and the intention to create a little easter ambience. i followed every step of the project by hollowing out the eggs, dyeing them with food coloring and hot gluing the heck out of them with my mom's hot glue gun. they were festive enough to be displayed every year since, either at my mom's house or here in this house. today i took them down from my attic... and i was thinking how i never imagined that they would have lasted this long. 12 years. a crafty martha project that i tackled just for fun has sort of become part of tradition...
which brings us to easter now, 2007...
and another dozen eggs. today i started to get things ready so that tomorrow, margaret can color some hard-boiled eggs - naturally. again i'm getting a little help from martha (as well as a few other sources) for the how-tos. so far i've cooked up separately some tumeric, beets and coffee (which we are hoping chuck doesn't drink up in a saturday morning haze) and look at the colors so far. so cool... should be fun to play saturday morning with all these earthy colors and our 12 eggs.
