when i was photographing this raindrop, i was surprised to find our little house show up in the water. although our house is really bigger than the few pixels that it appears to be here, after two years in our home we are starting to re-evaluate our simple space. this weekend we made the decision to do some work on the bathroom. i think what we are hoping to do might actually be considered a renovation. not sure. we'll be going about the process with an earth-friendly, eco-conscious attitude. if it all really happens it will be a project bigger than i have ever done. up til now, in fixing up the house we have made eco-friendly choices when we could like choosing low voc paints, using recycled blue jeans for insulation, using natural fiber carpets, and things like that. but we thought on a project like this that we could use some more help going green. we met with someone who will be guiding us with her "natural home" and "green building" knowledge. she already had some great ideas and advice. the first one makes a lot of sense and came as a surprise to me - there is no need to trash the original tub. just call on someone to come and return it to its original state. like new. but without throwing it in a landfill and purchasing another. nice, right? she had other cool and exciting ideas like possibly using some recycled/reclaimed tiles, shopping locally for supplies, etc... and just plain keeping it simple, which i like. so today found us trying to promote harmony between nature and our home while contemplating bathroom sinks. naturally.
